A hand of help…
Our unique and bespoke finishes have been carefully matured and nurtured over many years. We are proud to offer a complete range of hand-applied quality finish focused products which provide customers with the option to create a full door set in a huge range of trending colours.
We do not recommend using our products externally, unless they are brass based. Solid Brass based products can be used externally, Zamak based products cannot. Zamak products would deteriorate in a matter of weeks or months due to extreme temperature changes, UV exposure after rain & frost and chemical & salt composition in the air causing the finish to flake off. By contrast, Solid Brass-based door handles and knobs will last for many years under normal external circumstances.
We do not recommend using our products externally in coastal areas due to the high levels of atmospheric salt, as this will rust or tarnish most finishes. Items of ironmongery can be coated in a PVD finish which improves hardness, wear resistance and oxidation resistance. Please enquire for further details regarding PVD coating.
In the unusual event of products failing mechanically, we will replace it free of charge, providing you can supply us with the faulty product and a receipt to show proof of purchase. If the items are not fitting in accordance with the fitting instructions, in a correct application, this may not apply.
All our products have a bespoke applied finish, and we recommend regular cleaning with a soft cloth. If necessary, you may moisten the cloth, with water. If this is not effective in removing accumulated deposit, try using a PH neutral soap on a soft cloth, then remove soap immediately after application, with the help of a clean, moist, soft cloth. Any form of chemical cleaner could permanently damage the finish.
Under no circumstance should you use an abrasive/hard tool, chemical, acidic or abrasive substance to clean our products. This will break down the applied finish. The finish may chip or scratch if subjected to impact from sharp items such as keys and jewellery; rings in particular. Atlantic UK retain the right to send items away from chemical testing to analyse if the product has come into contact with any abrasive or chemical substance before issuing replacements.
Please be aware that environments where there are high concentration of chemicals in the air, for example from use of low quality paint or corrosive agents, corrosion and damage may occur to the surface of the lock. Our products should therefore not be fitted in such environments, until the high concentration of chemicals in the air have subsided. Please also ensure any newly plastered or painted rooms are fully cured before fitting your ironmongery, as moisture may tarnish or rust the finish. When painting, staining or plastering we recommend that all ironmongery is removed before proceeding and that rooms are left to fully cure before your ironmongery is fitted.
We recommend periodically oiling any moving parts on all products to ensure they perform to their full capacity, especially when fitting externally. We would also strongly advise that this is carried out upon initial instillation. Wiping over the surface are of your products from time to time with an oily cloth will also remove any harmful deposits that build up on the surfaces and will aid protection from environmental factors.
Fitting Advice
The fixing kits supplied with our products are bespoke and carefully crafted specifically for their coordinating product. We would always recommend that a pilot how is drilled, especially into hard woods, for all our fixings. Ideally it is suggested that screws are rubbed with candlewax before fitting to ease the application. Please take the utmost care when fitting our screws to preserve the finish. We recommend that along with drilling a pilot hole, a well-fitting screwdriver should be used. Please avoid fixing by way of an impact driver or drill operated screwdriver, due to the hand-made nature of the fixings. Extra screws can be purchased, to replace lost or damaged screws. Please enquire for further details.
