AGB Revolution XT Magnetic Locks – How does it work?

The magnetic lock is made up of two parts, the lock case and faceplate, and the striker plate/keep.  The lock case can be supplied in either a bathroom lock or a Euro Sashlock variety.  Both of these options however can be fitted and used as a standard latch.

The lock case should be fitted into the door with the forend recessed into the door.  The loose faceplate should then be clipped onto the lock forend to leave a flush surface on the door edge.  The adjustable strike plate/keep should then be fitted to the door frame to match up perfectly with the lock case bolt.  Handles and WC turn or Euro Cylinder should be fitted in the same way as a regular mortice lock.

Our Magnetic Bathroom and Sashlocks differ from a regular sprung lock because instead of having a separate latch and deadbolt, the function of both is combined into one latch/deadbolt.  When the door is open the latch/deadbolt will be fully retracted.  When the door closes and the lock meets the strike plate/keep, the magnetic latch/deadbolt is automatically pulled across to meet the magnet in the back of the keep, holding the door closed and performing the action of a latch.  The WC turn or Key in a Euro Cylinder can then be turned, and this will lock the latch/deadbolt in place, meaning even if the handle is turned, the latch/deadbolt will not retract.  To release the bolt, all that’s required is to turn the WC turn or Key in the reverse direction, allowing the handle to be turned and the latch/deadbolt retracted.

To use our Magnetic locks as only a latch, either the Bathroom or Euro Sashlock can be fitted providing the WC Turn or Euro Cylinder hole is not drilled out in the door and is left covered over.
